MOUNDRIDGE – On Friday, the Little River baseball team showed why it is ranked number one as they traveled to Moundridge and rolled to a pair of wins, 10-0 and 16-0.
With the two wins, the Redskins up their season mark to 17-1 as they prep to close out the regular season on Tuesday on the road at Canton/Galva.

Moundridge is now 5-13 for the year and will be on the road Tuesday to close out their regular season at Hutchinson Trinity.

In game one, Little River’s Logan Renken threw just 75 pitches over five innings to allow Moundridge just two hits, no runs, no walks and struck out eight.
Little River put three on the board in the first, one in the second and two in the fourth before closing out the scoring with four in the fourth to reach the final 10-0 win.
Not only did Renken do damage on the mound, but he also led the Redskin offense by going 3-for3 with a pair of runs batted in and three runs scored thanks to pounding out a double and triple. Braden Young chipped in with a pair of hits while Grant Stephens, Kayston Cox, and Spencer Strecker all hit doubles.
For Moundridge in the first game, only Joaquin Huff and Camden Dalke had hits with Dalke getting a double. Layton Wiens pitched for the Wildcats and took the loss.
In the nightcap, Little River scored one in the first, six in the second, four in the third and five in the fourth to earn the 16-0 shutout.
Braden Young worked the mound for Little River and needed just 39 pitches over four innings in holding Moundridge to just a single hit, no runs, no walks and he struck out five.
For the second game in a row, Renken went 3-for-3 with a pair of runs batted in and three runs scored while hammering out two more doubles. For the day, Renken finished 6-for-6 with four runs batted in, six runs scored, three doubles and a triple.
Both Dalton Mantz and Grant Stephens also had three hits in the game with Stephens recording four runs batted in and Mantz getting a pair of runs batted in while scoring three times. Both Stephens and Mantz hit for a double as did Kayston Cox. The Redskins also stole 10 bases with Carter Stansbury swiping three.
For the Wildcats, their lone hit came from a double pounded out by Lars Tegethoff. Logan Churchill and Clay Wilson worked the mound for Moundridge.
