            LINDSBORG – It was a rough day for the Smoky Valley baseball team on Thursday as they suffered losses in both games of a home doubleheader with Hoisington, losing game one 5-4 before dropping game two 6-1.

            With the pair of loses the Vikings drop to 4-14 for the season as look to close out their regular season schedule on Tuesday on the road at Hesston.

            After neither team scored in the first three innings of game one, Hoisington put two on the board in the fourth while Smoky Valley put up one. Over the final three innings, Hoisington added a run in the fifth and two in the sixth with the Vikings putting up one run on the board in each of the final three innings to fall short by one run in the loss.

            Both Ty Heitschmidt and Kade Blanchat had a pair of hits in the game with both getting a double as well. Nolan Dauer and Braxton House each had a double as well. Blanchat threw a complete game, using 106 pitches to give up 11 hits, just two earned runs with no walks and seven strikeouts.

            Hoisington put up four runs in the first two innings of game two and then added one in each of the third and fourth innings while holding Smoky Valley to just one run for the game.

            Kade Blanchat had two of the Vikings four hits with one being for a one-run triple.

            Ty Heitschmidt and Nolan Moore worked the mound for the Vikings.
