LADY TEUTONS WIN LEAGUE, TEUTON BOYS TAKE 3rd

            MARION – On Friday, the Inman track/field teams took went on the road to Marion for the 10-team Heart of America League Meet where the Lady Teutons won the league title and the Teuton boys took third led by Tanner Heckel and Madilyn Heflin winning six titles between them.

            Tanner Heckel dominated the boys meet as he won four first-place medals in winning the 100 meters on the track before taking first in the field with the long jump, triple jump and javelin. Eli Brunk won both the 110- and 300-meter hurdles as the Teuton boys rolled up 88 points, good for a third-place finish behind league champion Moundridge and Berean Academy in second.

            The Teuton boys placed in 10 events with 13 point making finishes of which nine were top-three placings.

            It was a league championship for the Lady Teutons as they scored 123 points to finish well ahead of runner-up Berean Academy with 108. Remington, Sterling and Ell-Saline rounded out the top five of the 10 teams competing.

            Madilyn Heflin led the team with wins in both the 100- and 300-meter hurdles while Suttyn Harris took first in the long jump and Chloe Schmidt threw the farthest in the discus. The fifth first-place medal went to the quartet of Rebecca Black, Madelyn Brunk, Maider Fernandez, and Madilyn Heflin for winning the 4×400 meter relay.

            In the meet the Lady Teutons finished with 19 placing for points in 15 of 18 events that included 13 times they finished in the top-three.

            The Teuton track/field teams return to Marion Thursday for their 16-team state regional meet where  Tanner Heckel in the triple jump and Madilyn Heflin in the 100-meter hurdles will go in as the best of the regional.
