            MARION – On Thursday, the Canton/Galva softball team was able to squeeze the first game of two with Marion in before the weather hit and ended up losing the final regular season game, 8-2.

            With the loss the Lady Eagles close out the 2023 regular season at 12-7 which gives them the three seed of their Class 2-1A state regional in Moundridge beginning on Monday.

            On Thursday, Marion took a 3-1 lead in the second inning and then added one run in the fourth plus two more in each of the fifth and sixth innings to lead 8-1 into the seventh where the Lady Eagles added one more run, but it was not enough to overcome the deficit and lost 8-2.

            Brooke Stephan led the Lady Eagles by going 3-for-3 at the plate while Jordan Friesen pitched and struck out four.
