The 2023 season has not gone as hoped for the Inman softball team, but they are trying their best to finish it out with a bang as they won their Class 2-1A regional play-in game over Independent School, 11-1 on Tuesday, and followed that by knocking off top seeded Sedgwick 7-4.

With the two wins the Lady Teutons are now 6-14 as they head into the regional semi-finals to play county rival Moundridge.

In the play-in game after spotting Independent School of Wichita an early run in first inning, the Lady Teutons scored three in their half of the first, put one up in the second, another three in the third and then added four more to the board in the fifth to gain the final 11-1 win.

The Lady Teutons pounded out 10 hits in the game with Emma Brown, Allison Schrag, and Kambrey Woods all getting a pair of hits. Inman hammered out five doubles, two by Woods, and one each from Chesney Black, Allison Schrag, and Kemma Woods. Emma Brown recorded three runs batted in while Kambrey Woods, Schrag and Joee Hurley each knocked across two.

Emma Brown worked the mound and threw a no hitter while giving up just a pair of walks and striking out 13.

In the second game of the day for the Inman girls, they went up against top seeded Sedgwick who brought a season mark of 14-6 into the game that included a doubleheader sweep of the Lady Teutons on the first Tuesday in May.

But the Lady Teutons were not intimidated, and they scored three runs in the first. Sedgwick pushed across two runs in the second and one in the third to tie the game before Inman added four more runs to their scorebook in the fourth. After Sedgwick put one more run on the board in the fifth, the Lady Teutons added one more as well and then held on to earn the final three-run, 7-4 victory.

Once again, Emma Brown was spectacular on the mound in the upset as she gave up only four hits, just one earned run, walked five and struck out 10 with 148 pitches over seven innings. That gave Brown 23 strikeouts on the day over 12 innings pitched.

At the plate, the Lady Teutons got the upset victory despite only having three hits in the game.
