When you are the eighth seed and playing the top seed, you expect a tough game and that is what the Little River softball team faced on Tuesday as they lost a heartbreaking one-run, 4-3 game to top seeded Ell Saline at their Class 2-1A regional.

With the loss the Lady Redskins close out the 2023 season with a record of 1-19.

After Little River took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning, Ell-Saline put two runs across in the bottom of the inning and then added two more in the third to take a 4-1 lead. The Lady Redskins tried to rally and scored one run in each of the fourth and fifth innings only to come up one run short in the loss.

Hammering out seven hits by seven Lady Redskins, Katie Collins had the best hit of the day when she pounded out a one-run triple.

Kinsley Wohletz worked the mound for the Lady Redskins and gave up just two earned runs on six hits while walking four and striking out four.
