GREENSBURG – It was a good day for the Little River track/field teams at their Class 1A state track regionals in Greensburg on Thursday as the Lady Redskins took the team title and the Redskin boys finished second.
Overall, the Little River track/field programs will have 22 qualifiers at the Class 1A state track meet, 14 representing the Lady Redskins and eight representing the Redskin boys. The two programs also broke three school records.
The Lady Redskins won the team title with 95.5 points and well ahead of Oxford and Elyria Christian who tied for second with 54 points. Bucklin and Coldwater rounded out the top five of 26 teams competing.

Four times the Little River girls won events including Ashley Stephenson who broke her own school record in the 800 meters, Havana Olander in the triple jump and both the 4×100 and 4×400 meter relay teams. The 4×100 quartet of Ashley Stephenson, Kami Grasser, Alaina Eck and Elsie Boughfman did so while running a new school record time.
Nine times the Lady Redskins finished in the top three of an event.
Braxton Lafferty was the lone event winner for the Redskin boys as they finished second in the team standings with 58 points, well behind regional team champion Kiowa County with 116. Minneola, Caldwell, and Macksville rounded out the top five teams.

The Redskins did qualify in eight events plus the runner-up 4×100 meter relay quartet of Andrew Smith, Lafferty, Rylan Konen, and Toby Jesseph set a new school record.
