            MARION – It was a productive day for the Inman track/field teams at Marion on Thursday for their Class 2A State Regionals as they totaled state qualifiers in 15 events and five regional champions.

            The Lady Teutons finished third in the team standings with 65 points. Garden Plain and Whitewater/Remington finished first and second while Berean Academy and Sterling rounded out the top five.

            Individually, Madelyn Heflin won both the 100- and 300-meter hurdles while the Lady Teutons finished in the top-six or scoring position 13 times while making six top-three finishes.

            Overall the following Lady Teutons qualified six individuals covering seven events for a trip to the state meet next week in Wichita: Chloe Schmidt in the discus, Katie Nichols in the high jump, Suttyn Harris in the long jump, Brylee Mannebach in the triple jump, Maider Fernandez in the 100 meters, Madelyn Heflin in both the 100- and 300-meter hurdles, plus Rebecca Black, Madilyn Brunk, Fernandez, and Heflin in both the 4×100 and 4×400 meter relays.

            The Teuton boys scored 69 points which put them in a fourth-place tie with Ell-Saline. Garden Plain won the team championship with Berean Academy and Moundridge, finishing ahead of the Teutons.

            Eli Brunk was a double regional champion by winning the 110- and 300-meter hurdles and Tanner Heckel also earned a regional championship in the long jump.

            Five Teuton boys qualified to move on to the state meet in eight events led by Heckel who qualified for state in four events – the 100 meters, long jump, triple jump and javelin. Eli Brunk qualified for both the hurdles runs as well as being a leg on both the 4×100 and 4×400 qualifying relay teams along with Josiah Buller, Kellen Schrag and Felix Farnebo.
