            MARION – While the team points maybe did not go as hoped, the Moundridge track/field teams still put up some good work at their Class 2A state regionals in Marion as they qualified Wildcats in 12 events for next weeks state track/field meet in Wichita.

            Finishing with 73 points, the Wildcat boys ended up third in the team standings behind regional champion Garden Plain and runner-up Berean Academy, while being four points ahead of county rival Inman who tied for fourth with Ell-Saline.

            The Wildcats won five events at the meet while placing in the top-six scoring positions 10 times of which eight were in the top-three.

            Kaden Elmore won both the 100 and 200 meters while Logan Churchill took first in the 400 meters. Also finishing first were the 4×100 and 4×400 meter relay teams consisting of Elmore, Churchill, Landon Kaufman and MacKaleb Unruh.

            Besides those with first place finishes, Henry Hecox qualified to go to state in the javelin and Elmore also qualified in the 400 meters.

            For the Wildcat girls, their lone first-place finish came from Haylee Jantz in the 1,600 meters while the Lady Wildcats secured four entries to the state meet.

            Besides Jantz, Cammi Unruh qualified for state in both the 100 and 200 meters and Avery Schrag qualified in the 400 meters.

            As a team the Lady Wildcats scored 32 points to place ninth in the team standings. Garden Plain, Remington and Inman finished as the top three in the girls team standings.
