OLANDER EARNS GOLD FOR LITTLE RIVER, GIRLS TIE FOR 3rd AT STATE

            WICHITA – While it may not have gone as hoped, the Little River track/field teams still found success at the Class 1A State Track Meet in Wichita as Havana Olander and the Lady Redskin 4×100 meter relay team both won gold medals.

            The Lady Redskins totaled 39 team points to finish in a tie for third with Ness City and Elyria Christian. Washington County won the team title with 55 points while South Gray was second with 51.

            Havana Olander jumped a personal best 38’7.25” to win the triple jump in the individual competition while the Little River quartet of Arika Feldman, Kami Grasser, Alaina Eck, and Ashley Stephenson earned a gold medal by winning the 4×400 meter relay. Ashley Stephenson just missed a gold with a second place run in the 800 meters.

            For the Little River boys, Andrew Smith accounted for 9.5 of the team’s 17 points with a fourth place and personal best run in the 400 meters while tying for fourth with teammate Treyton Olander in the high jump.

            The Redskins totaled 17 points at the state meet which put them in a tie for 11^th with Goessel and Olpe. Axtell won the boys title with 64 points while Kiowa County with 55 and Quinter with 54 rounded out the top three.

Aubrey Olander > 100 Meter Hurdles – 8^th with run of 23.80, 1 team point.

Kami Grasser > 100 Meters – 9^th with run of 13.28;  200 Meters – scratch.

Arika Feldman > 400 Meters – 10^th with run of 1:02.45;  High Jump – 13^th with jump of 4’10”.

Ashley Stephenson > 800 Meters – 2^nd with run of 2:24.88, 8 team points.

Addie Strecker > Long Jump – 7^th with jump of 16’0” (personal record), 2 team points.

Alaina Eck – Triple Jump – 13 with jump of 32’10.5”.

4×100 Meter Relay (Alaina Eck Kami Grasser, Ashley Stephenson, Elsie Boughfman) – 2nd with a run of 50.95, 8 team points.

4×400 Meter Relay (Arika Feldman, Kami Grasser, Alaina Eck, Ashley Stephenson) – 1. with a run of 4:06.09, 10 team points.
