            WICHITA – It was a great beginning of the holiday weekend at the Class 2A state track/field meet for the Inman track/field teams as the Tanner Heckel scored a pair of gold medals in leading the Teuton boys to the Class 2A state team title while the Lady Teutons finished sixth overall.

            The Teuton boys finished the meet with 51 team points in winning the state title. Garden Plain (48), Chase County (45), Ell-Saline (41), and Meade (40) rounded out the top five in the team standings.

            Individually, Tanner Heckel was the collector of medals as he scored 34 of the teams 51 points in earning four individual medals including a state title in both the long jump (22’11.50”) and triple jump (45’2.75”). Heckle also ran his personal best time in finishing second in the 100 meters before throwing the third best toss of the javelin.

            Eli Brunk accounted for 16 more team points as he just missed gold with a pair of second place runs in the 110- and 300-meter hurdles.

            The 4×400 meter relay team of Felix Farnebo, Eli Brunk, Kellen Schrag, and Josiah Buller ran eight to pick up the final team point of the meet.

            For the Lady Teutons, they placed sixth with 35 team points, a pace behind team champion Garden Plain with 54. Stanton County (47), Pittsburgh St. Marys/Colgan (46), Sterling (44) and Ellis (37) all finished ahead of Inman as well.

            Madilyn Heflin had the best finish of the meet for the Lady Teutons when she placed second in the 300-meter hurdles while Suttyn Harris finished third in the long jump and both Chloe Schmidt and Katie Nichols landed fifth in the discus and high jump, respectively.
